Get Groovin'! With Your 7-11s This Christmas

Too cool for Christmas? We’ve heard there’s no such thing!

It’s not often that we produce nativities for 7-11s, because we know there's not always time for teachers to think around all the extra prep it might take at a busy time of year – however, we’ve been working hard to bring you Christmas shows for your 7-11s that carry all the Christmas joy of a concert, but that can be performed simply! All of the festive; none of the fuss! Get to know Groovin’ – The Nativity: a fresh, modern and pre-teen approved Christmas production with none of the stress, but all of the festive fun.

Why Groovin’ The Nativity is a great option for your 7-11s this Christmas:

It’s been written to be straightfoward to put on! The script was written to carry all the joy and humour your 7-11s will love, without being a huge undertaking to learn or perform, meaning your classes can feel the joy and genuine pride in putting on a performance to a fantastic standard, that they loved being a part of.

“It’s genuinely easy to pull off. Even if you’re short on time and feeling the end-of-term fatigue, it just works”

The characters are tailor-made for your older classes – In our sassy script, we’ve got boy-band style shepherds and groovin’, good-news angels, not to mention Darrel, our disco Donkey! It’s got so much humour, charm and heart that your classes will easily pull off! Each word has been written with your older classes in mind.

“It’s full of humour (honestly, some of the lines made me laugh out loud)… The characters are written with real care…, and the script is filled with personality… Darrell the Disco Donkey might just be my favourite nativity character ever.”

The songs scream pop-y, cool, modern bangers! With the resurgence of disco in artists like Dua Lipa and Beyonce, as well as references to Earth Wind and Fire and Chic, these are songs your classes and audiences will absolutely love.

“Then there are the songs: catchy, joyful, and incredibly easy to teach. They’re inspired by the groove-worthy tunes of the 1970s and 80s, and are pitched just right for KS2; they’ll definitely get stuck in your head, and are a massive hit with children and adults alike.”

No two 7-11 cohorts are the same! Not only is there a huge variety in speaking parts, but there’s also so much flexibility in how you put on this nativity. There can be as few as 21 speaking parts or as many as 58+ (we talk you through how to make this doable). You’ll also get an editable script so that you can tweak and split lines and make the show work for you!

“There’s a great mix of lines and roles so all children can be involved in a way that suits them… the pack also includes clear stage directions and optional choreography links, which makes everything feel structured but still flexible. The editable script is a nice bonus as well; it’s simple to tweak if you want to personalise it for your school”

There’s magic in putting on a musical – rehearsing together, getting it wrong together, being silly together – there’s so much memory-making that goes into putting on a show, giving your 7-11s joyful memories to last a lifetime.

“Filled with festive spirit from start to finish, and gives your students a real moment to shine.”

A note from the writer
The idea for Groovin’ came from feeling like there was a real need for a joyful-through-and-through, finger-clicking nativity for older kids, that genuinely felt fresh and cool – without being a lot of work to put on. One of my favourite things about writing for KS2 is that the characters can be more developed, and the kids have a great time bringing them to life! Same goes for the music – you can create groovy, pop-y songs that have pace, personality and pizzazz!
