About Busy, Busy Bethlehem
Busy, Busy Bethlehem is a simple and effective nursery nativity play written by Niki Davies. It tells the Christmas story from a new perspective – that of a busy Bethlehem soldier.
Bethlehem is busy, busy, busy with preparations for the day of the approaching census. Watching the excitement and directing the crowds is a little soldier sent to Bethlehem by Caesar Augustus. He loves to organise everybody and thinks that nothing could be more important than being in charge.
So when Mary and Joseph arrive late, the little soldier is initially very cross, but something changes and he can't understand why. He forgets all about organising - could it be because a very special baby is about to be born?
Busy, Busy Bethlehem includes seven memorable songs and a charming narrative that will really bring the Christmas story to life for young children.

long lasting!
Our nursery did this a couple of years ago... we were quite boy heavy and it seemed to tick the boxes... was probably a little more challenging than Whoops a Daisy, & The Sleepy Shepherd... but children rose to the occasion. We are still using the line up line up song whenever we need to line up and count children... so a lasting legacy!n
children loved it
We did this with the whole school. Oldest children were the choir, Nursery to Y2 were the parts. The children learned the songs quickly and made up actions for some of them. Yet another great production.
Excellent
Once again an Out of the Ark success. Performed this with nursery and reception children. As always the songs were eay to learn and the children really enjoyed them. Lots of parts accomodated a large cohort of children. Parents really enjoyed it and we had lots of compliments.nOnly negative was the narration was overlong which is why I've only given it 4 stars.nWill be using Out of the ark again next year
Absolutely Fabulous!
A great Christmas production. The children loved it and found the songs really easy to learn. They are really catchy - I even heard one of my new Year 1 class coming in singing one of the songs on the first day back last week!nI would definitely recommend this to any school for a (relatively) stress free Christmas production!
Bright, bubbly and lots of fun!
Loved it! nThe songs were so easy to learn - the repetition helped the children but wasn't too obvious to the parents. It was easy to adapt the script for more or less children although you do need some strong narrators to hold it all together. A great mix of all the traditional parts of angels, kings, shepherds etc.nWill choose Out of the Ark again next year.
